The Making of Cécie
A timeline of Cecie Mestre's journey from stylist to designer.
Where personal style became a profession.
Cecie Mestre launched Theme Dresser as an Instagram platform centered on personal style, quickly building a private clientele.
That same year, she was commissioned to curate the retail boutique of a luxury fitness club, overseeing merchandising and developing branding for its in-house apparel.
The first boutique and the first collection.
Theme Dresser opened its first retail location in Miami in November 2019, introducing a boutique concept that combined personal styling, curated fashion, and hand-painted hats.
That same year, Mestre organized her first curated fashion event featuring more than twenty independent female designers, where she debuted her first hat collection.
Stepping into design and creative direction.
Mestre began collaborating with designers to create exclusive pieces for Theme Dresser, expanding her design work from hats into clothing.
She also expanded into commercial styling, working with luxury hotels and automotive. brands.
Theme Dresser expanded its retail footprint to nearly three times its original size while Mestre introduced an in-house clothing line under the brand.
Mestre incorporated professional styling services within the boutique, and co-hosted a fashion show with Brad Goreski at Neiman Marcus.
Mestre presented her hat collection at Splash Paris, securing her first international wholesale account with a retailer in Milan.
During this period, she traveled to international fashion events including Bogotá Fashion Week, Colombiamoda, and Istanbul Fashion Week, sourcing emerging designers for the boutique.
Her work was also featured in Ocean Drive magazine’s The List, and she collaborated with the publication to curate designer brands for several of its major Miami fashion events.
Mestre also appeared as a guest across podcasts, digital media, and international airport programming discussing fashion, entrepreneurship, and creative work.
Mestre founded and designed her own clothing collection under Theme Dresser, establishing a foundation in bespoke tailoring and editorial aesthetics that would later define CÉCIE's approach to luxury hat design.
The experience in creating wearable art informed her philosophy of quiet luxury and meticulous craftsmanship, principles that continue to guide every piece in the collection today.
Returning to the art of the hat.
In 2026, Mestre closed the Theme Dresser boutique to focus fully on her creative work as a designer.
Returning to her roots in hats, she launched CÉCIE, an independent label devoted to authored, hand-painted collections created with intention and symbolism.
The brand marks a new chapter centered on intentional collections and expanding globally through select wholesale partnerships.
